JAKARTA – Chief Executive Officer (CEO) OpenAI, Samuel Altman, menjadi orang asing pertama yang mendapatkan Golden Visa RI pasca diundangkan akhir Agustus lalu. Altman menerima golden visa dengan sub kategori tokoh dunia dengan masa tinggal 10 tahun yang ditandatangani oleh Direktur Jenderal Imigrasi, Silmy Karim.
Golden Visa is a visa that becomes the basis for granting a stay permit for 5-10 years intended to support the national economy. The enactment of Regulation of the Minister of Law and Human Rights Number 22 of 2023 and Regulation of the Minister of Finance Number 82 of 2023 is the basis for executing this latest policy.
"There are several categories of Golden Visas other than for investors; one is the Golden Visa specific for well-known figures with an international reputation and can benefit Indonesia. A central government institution will propose and recommend the names of Foreign Nationals eligible to obtain the notable figure category of Golden Visa.
Samuel Altman is a global figure who is the CEO and Co-Founder of OpenAI, an artificial intelligence (AI) research and application company in the United States whose mission is to ensure that artificial intelligence benefits all humankind. Altman has become the world's attention after the success of ChatGPT, an OpenAI product launched at the end of 2019. Last June, Altman came to Indonesia to share knowledge regarding artificial intelligence. With Golden Visa, the Indonesian government expects Altman to contribute to developing artificial intelligence in Indonesia.
As a Golden Visa holder, Altman will enjoy many exclusive benefits from this type of visa. These include fast-track facility and priority immigration checks at airports, a more prolonged stay permit, ease of entry and exit to Indonesia, and time efficiency since the holders no longer need to go to the immigration office to get a stay permit. The granting of the Golden Visa to Altman is a significant initial effort from the Directorate General of Immigration to develop the Artificial Intelligence ecosystem in Indonesia.
"Once the holders of Golden Visa arrive in Indonesia, they no longer need to apply for a temporary stay permit (ITAS) at the immigration office. "We are rolling out the red carpet in return for the resources they provide to Indonesia," said Silmy.
