Immigration Border Control at Soetta Airport is getting faster with the new Autogate equipped with Face Recognition Technology

JAKARTA – Sebanyak 24 unit mesin autogate baru resmi beroperasi di Terminal 3 kedatangan Bandara Internasional Soekarno-Hatta mulai Senin (02/10/2023). Direktur Jenderal Imigrasi, Silmy Karim mengungkapkan, mesin autogate mengintegrasikan teknologi Face Recognition dan Border Control Management (BCM).

"With facial recognition, it is estimated that the immigration inspection will only take 15-25 seconds for each passer-by. This means that the daily passenger service capacity has also increased," said Silmy on the launching event of the Terminal 3 autogate at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Monday (02/03/2023).

Silmy said that user experience is very important. Therefore, the support of sophisticated equipment will increase the experience of the passers-by. He emphasized that foreign citizens can also use the autogate.

The addition of 24 new autogate units is the first stage. Furthermore, the Directorate General of Immigration (DGI) plans to add another 26 autogate installations, so that there will be 50 new autogate units in Terminal 3 Arrivals at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport by the end of 2023.

"We looked at Singapore, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Doha, as references. So, when I first joined the DGI, the Director for Immigration Information Systems and Technology, together with me, immediately looked for the right Autogate provider for our airport," he added.

The launching ceremony for the operation of 24 autogate units at Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport was also attended by the Director General of Air Transportation, Ministry of Transportation, Maria Kristi Endah Murni, and the Main Director of PT. Angkasa Pura 2, Muhammad Awaluddin. Together with these stakeholders, the DGI is also reviewing plans for autogate arrangements at Terminals 2D and 2F.

"We continue to improve our Immigration Border Control. Immigration coordinates with State-owned Enterprises, the Ministry of Transportation and the Directorate General of Customs and Excise. We will build it together for better services," concluded Silmy.
